  • Analyzed trending cultural news, focusing on trending conversations related to LGBT, Native American and Latino issues to synthesize how those communities are feeling and package work to appeal to target demographic.
  • Brought in the most traffic on the team by creating edgy voice, building a reputation in the industry and researching social hotspots to follow stories and better promote essays and articles.
  • Singlehandedly created BNR breakfast, a daily series, to deliver quick, humorous and relatable news on the trending topics of the day.
  • Juggled a number of jobs including writing quickly under strict deadlines, editing stories, consulting on minority issues, managing social media and hosting on-camera video segments.
  • Served as a liaison between the rest of the BNR staff and minority communities.

  • BuzzFeed, Remote – Wrote personal essay called When My Former Bully Hit Me Up On a Gay Dating App. It went viral, landing me in the top 10 most viewed BuzzFeed users. Also wrote an essay titled Why I’ve Decided to Dress More Femininely following the Pulse shootings.
  • NBC, Remote – Contributor to NBC OUT.
  • Slate, Remote – Wrote an essay on the importance of Latino night at gay clubs for Slate.
  • Vox, Washington, D.C. – Wrote an explainer for Vox First Person on Body Dysmorphia Disorder. Wrote a feature on the missing and murdered Indigenous women in Canada.
  • Huffington Post, Washington, D.C. – Blogged regularly for Huffington Post Queer Voices and Latino Voices.
